There are 84,012 Buddhist pieces of scriptures in Buddhism. Some are written in Pali Burmese and other languages which are very difficult for us of the modern age to read. These difficult scripture were rewritten as Buddhist Stories making them easily understandable. These stories are rich parables and they greatly influenced (the literature of) Persia, Arabia and other countries. Surprisingly, it seems the well-known Aesop's Fable were modeled after Buddhist Stories.
"Buddhism has always been fond of parables and many of these were used by the Buddha himself. He taught by parables, 'for men of good understanding will readily enough catch the meaning of what is taught under the shape of a parable.'" Let us read these simple and yet moving stories with the eyes of a child and the mind of a beginner-- for they are the pointing fingers to the gateway of spirituality.
In My upcoming posts i would be posting various parables, tales and stories on Buddhism.
