There are many benefit of having tattoo of Om Mani Padme Hum. These are some quotes i found from the Mahayana Sublime Treasure King Sutra, spoken by Sakyamuni Buddha. check this out! dharani mentioned here refers to OM MA NI PAD ME HUM.
please take a few minutes to read it.

"Virtuous man, for that person who holds this Dharani, all the worms inside his stomach will achieve the stage of non-retrograde Bodhisattvas. If there is any other person who wears this Six-Words-Great-Enlightening-Dharani on his body or neck, virtuous man, seeing this Dharani-wearing person is the same as seeing the Vajra body, also like seeing sharira and Stupa, also like seeing the Tathagata, also like seeing the person who has one-koti wisdoms. "

"If the person, who wears and holds this Dharani, touches the bodies of others with his hand, those who are touched will attain the stage of Bodhisattva quickly. If the person who wears and holds this Dharani, sees any men, women, boys, girls, and even the sentient beings of other forms, those who are seen will all attain the stage of Bodhisattva quickly."

"Virtuous man, this Six-Words-Great-Enlighteni
ng-Dharani is so sacrosanct, if anyone wears it on his body, holds it or carries it with him, he also will not be polluted by greed, anger, and ignorance."

Such great is the benefit of wearing an OM MANI PADME HUM... tattoo symbol, however, also possesses a seventh syllable, known as a seed syllable (or bijah), which in this case is in the center of design and is known as hrih. This version of the mantra, depicted in a six-petaled lotus with hrih at the center is part of a ceiling decoration in the Potala Temple of Chengde, China (not the Potala Palace of Tibet, as is widely reported). More recently, and perhaps more famously, it is also a tattoo on Brandon Boyd of Incubus. The seed syllable emphasizes the mantra character of the other six syllables, encapsulating their essence, and even the essence of the particular Buddha (Amitabha) who had helped Avalokitesvara in his quest to aid others in attaining Nirvana. In every aspect, then, whether as a spoken mantra or a visual one, without the seed syllable but especially with it, as in Om Mani Padme Hum Hrih, this tattoo invokes compassion and the intention to become enlightened through that compassion.
